Every single one of the AKC breeds has been bred throughout their lineage with other breeds to produce the current “pure” breed AKC standard.
ONE OF THEM. Yet, mutts are bashed on Yahoo Answers constantly. In the future, many of the mutts of the mixtures that are bashed on here will likely end up as “pure” AKC breeds. What's wrong with mixed genes? In biological terms, they are often stronger and healthier. As a dog lover and parent to many of wonderful, healthy dogs (both AKC pure mutts) throughout the years, I must speak up for the dogs themselves here. A mutt-SO WHAT? Does it really matter if they are AKC “pure” or mutts/mixed? No.
matters is being a responsible, loving, and caring pet parent. Understanding what it takes to have a little furry member of the family and making sure you always take care of the dog's health with regular visits to the vet (heartworm pills, vitamins, grooming, just to name a few). Love the dog, regardless of the label.

do you feel the need to set up some dogs as superior to others simply based on their lineage (not health nor misfortune of birthplace nor current residence ie the shelter or pound)? From reading over the responses, many of them exactly typical of the venom that's spewed regularly, there is an obvious semantics issue.
