How do I take care of a dog bite after stitches on my hand?

I had 2 stitches on the palm of my hand from a dog bite, they were in for 10 days and by like day 6 I was almost pain-free. I got the stitches taken out today and my doctor put some “sanitary strips” or something over it to make sure it doesnt open up.
